The exhibit is in the McDougle School Media Center and contains photographs by Jerry Markatos and paintings by Cornelio Campos. Some events will be in the library and some at CHICLE.

February 21, Sunday, 5:00 at CHICLE, Narrative Story Telling and the Latin American Immigrant Experience, Hannah Gill, UNC-CH
NARRATIVE STORY TELLING AND THE LATIN AMERICAN IMMIGRANT EXPERIENCE – Dr. Hannah Gill is an applied anthropologist with a specialization in Latin American/Caribbean migration studies. She co-authored the book, Going to Carolina de Norte, Narrating Mexican migrant experiences which will be coming out in a new edition in the fall of 2010. Dr. Gill’s course, Latin American Immigrant Perspectives: Ethnography and Action involves a spring break trip to Guanajuato, Mexico each year.

This is a workshop for Chapel Hill/Carrboro Middle School Students and their families.
It will be held at the Carrboro Branch Library.
Artist Cornelio Campos will tour the exhibit with the students and their families and talk about some of his paintings and his experiences as an immigrant in North Carolina. After that, participants will have the opportunity to react to the exhibit through painting and story telling, relating it when appropriate to their own lives. The workshop will be very interactive making it fun for all.
